Obituary for Louis Roy

1942 – 2020
Louis Roy, 78, of Moncton, passed away surrounded by family at the Dr. Georges–L.–Dumont UHC, on Sunday, November 15, 2020. Born in Sainte–Marie–de–Kent, he was the son of the late Cyril and Yvonne (Richard) Roy.

Louis was a hard worker all of his life and always did his best at whatever he was doing. He was the founder and previous owner of Westmount Esso on Mountain Road in Moncton. He was a very special man that you could always count on. He loved music. Family and friends will always have beautiful memories of many gatherings, where he sang and played guitar. Louis was a beautiful soul. His great sense of humour, warmth, smile, and goodness will remain in our hearts forever.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis (Cormier) Roy; two children: Ronald “Ron” Roy (Diane) of Moncton, and Theresa Marie Roy–Vincent (Mike) of Clifton Park, NY; four grandchildren: Julie Roy, Luc Roy, Johnathan Vincent (Carissa) and Nicholas Vincent; one great–grandchild, Niko Vincent; three sisters: Léontine Cormier and Odette Melanson, both of St–Antoine, and Rita Falkouski (Stanley) of Garfield, NJ; one brother, Yvon Roy (Barb) of Ste–Marie–de–Kent; three brothers–in–law: Albéo Cormier and Hector–Eddy Richard, both of Moncton, and Ronald Melanson of Shediac; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Louis was predeceased by four sisters: infant Rita (1938), Gérène (2001), Aline (2013), and Marie (2017); two brothers–in–law: Norman C. Melanson (2007), and Donald Cormier (2018).

Special thanks to all the staff of the Intensive Care Unit at the Dr. Georges–L.–Dumont UHC, for their special care and devotion.

Due to the pandemic, the funeral service will be celebrated at a later date.

In memory of Louis, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation or to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
