Obituary for Howard Carter

1930 - 2010
Howard George Carter passed away peacefully at K.E Spencer Memorial Home on Monday, September 14, 2020. Born in Toronto, ON son of the late William "Bill" and Christina Carter.

Howard had a lifelong passion as a pilot and instructor starting from the age of 18 to his retirement and beyond. Always keeping an open invitation to anyone to “Come flying”. He volunteered with the Air Cadets for over three decades as a mentor to an entire generation and anyone with an interest in aviation.

Howard will be sadly missed by three sons; James (Jane) Carter, Paul (Carol) Carter and John (late Annette) Carter, three daughter; Anne Christine (Doug) McDonald, Sheilagh (John) O’Brien and Jeannie Carter. Also survived by 14 grandchildren; Michael (Alana), Jennifer (Zain), Theresa (Mohammed), Christopher, Judy, Lindsay, Athena, Maria, Anna, Daniel, Colleen, David, Celeidh as well as two great-grandchildren, Avery and Ryan.

Besides his parents, Howard was predeceased by his wife Mary Irene (1988), partner of 20 plus years, Elizabeth “Bette” Ringham and his granddaughter Julie Carter (2000).

Memorial donations in Howard's memory may be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society.

Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of Howard’s life will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home, Garden View Reception Room on Saturday, September 19 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Due to COVID-19 and restrictions imposed by the Dept. of Health, the attendees should be mindful of social distancing. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, ON at a later date.
