Obituary for Mark Tingley

Mark Stephen Tingley of Dorchester, formerly of Colpitts Settlement and Berry Mills, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2019, on his own terms, with his family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born August 3, 1956 in Moncton, Mark was the youngest child of the late Ivy Rita (Mesheau) and James Arthur Tingley.

He spent his early years on the family farm in Colpitts Settlement before moving just down the road to the Davis Road where he created his own farm. His schooling began in the one-room school in Colpitts Settlement and included graduation from Salisbury High School, and NBCC Moncton, Business Administration. After barely surviving an industrial accident, he re-trained in computers at Eastern College, using his new skill and his love of farming as Manager of Southeastern Farmers Cooperative Store for many years.

Mark was happiest in the outdoors with a shovel or a hammer in his hand. He was the master of recycling. Each place he lived became a showcase for his talent with flourishing flower beds accented with benches and sheds he had envisioned from what most people considered garbage. Mark enjoyed books, history, and a good joke.

Mark’s humour and kind heart will be missed. He is survived by his five children, Jessica Tingley, Jason (JJ), Justin (Rebecca), Jeremmy, and Jacinda Tingley. Also left to mourn him are his four-grandchildren, Kalina, Eirdrick, Cradyck, and Bronwynne; his siblings, Gloria (Herbie) Jameson, Ralph (Donna) Tingley, Joyce (Jerry) Quigley, Roger Tingley, Marilyn (Cyril) Hall, Marlene (Bob) Hickman, and Janet Richard; as well as Kyle Lewis; and many nieces and nephews.

Mark was predeceased by his parents, Ivy and Jim; niece Nola Tingley Rourke; nephew, Jeffrey Hall; sister-in-law, Bonita Tingley.

The family will receive relatives and friends at The Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800) on Sunday November 10, 2019 from 2 to 4 pm.

If desired, memorials to the Middlesex Cemetery or charity of your choice would be appreciated. www.keirsteads.ca
