Obituary for Nora Fox

With great sadness the family of Nora E. Fox announces her passing on October 31, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Southampton, NB on June 26, 1915 to the late William and Beryl (Haines) Dore, she lived in the community her whole life. She married in 1932 to the late Lloyd Fox (1910-1986).

She leaves to mourn her five children, Marie Colwell (Ron), Fredericton, NB, Madeline Barton, Stoney Creek, ON, Merle Fox (Willa), Fredericton, NB, Malcolm Fox (Debby), Southampton, NB and Maude VanDine (Arthur), Woodstock, NB; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Tyler, Cambridge, ON; three brothers, Karl Dore, Fredericton, NB, Eldon Dore (Velma), Douglas, NB and Dean Dore (Barbara), Southampton, NB; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; three brothers, Lloyd, John and Elwood Dore; three sisters, Ellen Morehouse, Geraldine Patterson and Sarah Kennedy and a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Cooper.

Nora was a member of the L.O.B.A., a life member of the Women’s Institute (member since 1946), a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Southampton Legion Branch 27, and a longtime member and 13 year President of the Nackawic Silver Stars Senior Citizens Group.

She will be remembered for her enjoyment of travelling, going to auctions, knitting, quilting and playing cards. Her quilts are cherished by the many family and friends who possess them. Nora was a fabulous cook and cooked in the woods camps for a number of years. She and her late husband operated Fox Farms Bed & Breakfast for many years during the 70’s and 80’s. Family and friends were important to her and she will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation was held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Sunday. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 2 pm from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ryan Farrell officiating. Interment at Otis Cemetery followed by a reception at the funeral home.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Nora, the family has suggested the Huntington Society of Canada, NB Extra Mural or Otis Cemetery. www.flewellingswan.com
