Obituary for Jeanette Newman

It is with heavy hearts and appreciation for a lifetime of love and memories, that the family of Jeanette “Diddy” Charlotte (Melanson) Newman announce her passing to be with the Lord on October 24th, 2019 at Bobby’s Hospice. Jeanette was born on June 14th, 1939, in Saint John, daughter of the late John “Jack” and Pearl (Slauenwhite–Robicheau) Melanson.

Loving wife of the late Marvin Terry “Junie/Junior” Newman of Deer Island. Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, camping, travelling, collecting friends and being a scrabble master. She was an elegant and inquisitive conversationalist who cherished every moment spent with her family and friends.

Jeanette is survived by her children Jo’ Anne Newman (William) of Geary, NB, Terry Newman (Marjorie) of Edmonton, AB, Jason Newman (Tip) of Deer Island, NB; grandchildren Skye & Tanner Tibbetts, Tara Newman, Marianne Rosal, Jason Coakley, Adam Stevenson; great grandchildren Storm, Nevaeh, Everleigh, Audrina, Alexis, Damon, Hudson, Dominic, Tripp; brother John Melanson (Donna); sisters Josephine Sonier and Joan Smith (William); sister–in–law Mary Melanson; adopted daughters Saw, Am and Sayamol; special cousins Muriel & Jim Carr, Elmina Richardson and Andrea Stewart; dear nephews Lowell (Anna) Newman and John (Carla) Smith; beloved friends, Hilda Veinotte and John Belyea; along with many other family members and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Jeanette was predeceased by her grandson Anthony, brothers Jerry and Paul and nephew Eric.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road Saint John, NB (646–2424) with visitation being held on Sunday, October 27th from 2 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at Lord’s Cove Church of Christ (227 Route 772 Deer Island) on Monday, October 28th from 10 to 1 p.m. with the Funeral Service beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will be held at Calders Head Cemetery followed by a reception in the church hall.
